Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is just about to start but just before that, the tension of Team India is not decreasing. Before the tournament being held in UAE, Team India also won its second practice match. In this match against South Africa, Team India used 9 bowlers and won by a good margin of 28 runs. Despite this victory, the failure of the top order in the batting of Team India was once again seen, which is not good news before the start of the team's campaign on 3 October.
Team India played its second practice match on Tuesday 1 October at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Even in the first warm-up match, the Indian team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur had won on the strength of the bowlers. In that match, the first three batsmen of Team India, Shefali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and Captain Kaur failed. This time also the story did not change. Shefali and Harmanpreet were out cheaply, while Smriti again could not convert her start into a big score.
Once again Team India batted first and Shefali was out on the second ball itself without opening the account. After the dismissal of Harmanpreet Kaur, a partnership seemed to be forming between Smriti and Jemimah Rodriguez but it also broke in the 9th over. Jemima, who saved Team India by scoring a half-century in the last match, could not take her innings much further this time. However, there was a quick and important partnership of 70 runs between Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma, on the basis of which the Indian team was able to score 144 runs after losing 7 wickets. For South Africa, star fast bowler Ayabonga Khaka took the maximum of 5 wickets.
Whereas South Africa's opening pair gave a start of 37 runs but their batting also did not show any pace. India's fast bowling attack took the lead in the beginning and did not allow much freedom to bat. After this the spin department did the work of taking wickets. Kaur, captain of the three fast bowlers, used a total of 6 spinners including herself. Except Radha Yadav, all five spinners took wickets. Leg spinner Asha Shobhana took maximum 2 wickets and the South African team could score only 116 runs in 20 overs.
