Pakistan are facing massive flak after never-ending dismal performances across formats in international cricket. The team suffered a 0-2 defeat against Bangladesh. Shan Masood was given Test captaincy to end the losing streak, but he has been ordinary as a skipper, with the team losing five consecutive Tests.

Masood wants to change things in the upcoming red-ball matches against England. Ahead of the first game on October 7, Masood spoke to journalists. However, he was stumped by a journalist’s question about whether he thought of stepping down as captain after his struggles.

“You said you would continue leading the side until the decision-makers believed in you. But doesn’t it come from inside to leave the role when the team is losing and the performances are not coming?” the reporter asked.

PCB Director of Media and Communication Sami ul Hasan came forward and urged the journalists to respect the captain. “He is the captain of Pakistan, and the media should treat him with respect. The question was not appropriate,” the media manager said.

Meanwhile, Shan has shown confidence in his players. “The losses always hurt but it is important to support the players. We will have to move forward and give our best in the next series. Consistency can bring success,” he said. Pakistan will play three Tests against the Ben Stoked-led team.
