Mohammed Shami has hit out at media for spreading fake news on his latest injury concern. According to Times of India, Shami picked up a knee issue during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy and will be out of action for six weeks. The report further added that Shami is likely to miss a few games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.

However, the speedster has denied all the claims made by media. Shami hasn’t played cricket since the ICC ODI World Cup final against Australia in November last year. He was battling ankle issues and underwent surgery to fix the problem.

He also missed the Indian Premier League 2024 and the ICC T20 World Cup in the United States of America and the West Indies. There were speculations that he could return for the three-Test series against New Zealand but the seamer is still not fit.

The next timeline was set for the Australia series but even that looked tough after his latest fitness problem was reported on October 2.

Shami was miffed with the news and decided to end all the speculations.

“Why these type of baseless rumors? I’m working hard and trying my level best to recover. Neither the BCCI nor me have mentioned that I am out of the Border Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t spread such fake fake fake & fake news, especially without my statement,” he wrote.
