Harbhajan Singh has landed himself into unwanted controversy after revealing that MS Dhoni broke the TV screen following CSK’s defeat against RCB in IPL 2024. The five-time champions failed to reach the playoffs after Royal Challengers Bengaluru thumped them in their last league match.

Chennai Super Kings fielding coach Tommy Simsek said that Dhoni didn’t break a TV set in the dressing room. According to him, Dhoni has never displayed that kind of anger after an IPL game during his time with the five-time champions.

A few reports claimed that Dhoni was frustrated after CSK’s defeat to RCB in a crucial match, and the veteran punched a television screen after returning to the dressing room.

“This is absolute Rubbish! MSD did not break anything, and I have never seen him aggressive after any match. Fake news!” Simsek said in a reply to an Instagram post.

In the crucial game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18, RCB won by 27 runs and made it to the playoffs, eliminating CSK from the race.

Dhoni scored 25 runs off 13 balls but was dismissed in the final over by Yash Dayal. Dhoni waited for the RCB players to shake hands, but the rivals were busy celebrating.

Dhoni left the field without shaking hands with the RCB players. Several fans questioned Dhoni’s attitude. Harbhajan, who played with Dhoni, claimed that the legendary captain had punched a TV screen kept outside the CSK dressing room.

Dhoni is likely to return for IPL 2025 as the BCCI has reintroduced the uncapped player rule, which will allow Chennai to retain Dhoni for INR 4 crore.
