Pakistan players are miffed with the delays in the monthly retainers, sponsorship shares, and the announcement of central contracts. According to PTI, the PCB hasn’t cleared payments for the previous three months, leaving big players unhappy.
“For the last three months, the players are waiting for their payments and the central contracts,” said the source.
In the previous central contract agreement between the players and the apex body of Pakistan cricket, it was decided that salaries should be increased and other benefits added.
Players in Category A, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, receive monthly retainers of 4.5 million rupees after tax deductions. They also receive a share of the sponsorships and 3% of the revenues the PCB gets from the ICC.
The share of the ICC revenue is 1.53 million rupees this year, but the Pakistan Cricket Board hasn’t cleared the players’ dues. The report further reveals that the board’s officials have put the onus on administrative issues and pending revenue from different parties.
“PCB has spent a lot on the renovation work in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi stadiums for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The dues of the players will be cleared this month,” the source added.
Interestingly, Pakistan’s women’s team, which won their opening match against Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, has been playing without getting paid for the last four months.
