Afghanistan's veteran spinner and T20 captain Rashid Khan has got married. His wedding took place on October 3 in Kabul, in which most of his Afghan teammates attended but one player was not seen at the wedding because he is wreaking havoc in the Caribbean Premier League, thousands of kilometers away. Afghan team's opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz wreaked the same havoc in the knock out match, where his 18-ball inning played an important role in helping the team win. Apart from his innings, on the basis of Moeen Ali's all-round performance, Guyana Amazon Warriors made it to the finals of CPL for the second consecutive time.
Guyana was facing Barbados Royals in the Qualifier-2 match played in Providence. The Barbados team, captained by West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell, could not show anything special with the bat in this match. The team batted first but could score only 148 runs in 20 overs, which was not a big score considering a knock out match. The reason for this was the spinners of Guyana, who along with bowling economically, also took wickets and former England all-rounder Moeen Ali was at the forefront of this.
The CPL season has proved to be good for Moeen, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket and he showed the same form in this match also, where there was no answer to his off-break bowling. Moeen took 2 top order wickets including that of captain Powell and cost only 24 runs. If the Royals team could even reach 148 runs, it was because of David Miller. Miller, who had scored an explosive half-century in the last match, played a good innings this time too and scored 36 runs in 26 balls. As soon as he was out in the 19th over, the remaining batsmen could add only 9 more runs.
After this, it was Guyana's turn and as soon as he came, he started batting furiously. Gurbaz mainly did this work for him. Gurbaz was out on the last ball of the 5th over in the powerplay but even before that he had done his job by taking the team beyond 50 runs. Gurbaz hit 4 brilliant sixes in just 18 balls and also hit 2 fours. The special thing is that when he was out, the team had only 54 runs, out of which 40 were from Gurbaz. Gurbaz had given a fast start, which was taken forward by Moeen and Shay Hope. Moeen played cautiously but Hope batted furiously like Gurbaz. Hope was out just 2 runs before victory. He scored 56 runs in 33 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes, while Moeen returned unbeaten after scoring 44 runs and taking the team to the final.
