Nitish Kumar Reddy was named the Player of the Match for his all-round performance in the second T20I against Bangladesh. However, Tamim Iqbal refused to judge him based on the two matches in the shortest format.
India had lost three wickets when Nitish and Rinku Singh added 108 runs to bail out the hosts. Nitish scored 74 off 34 balls, laced with seven sixes and four fours, and his runs came at a strike rate of 217.64.
On the other hand, Rinku managed 53 off 29 balls, including five fours and three sixes. His strike rate was 182.75. The Men in Blue posted 221/9 in 20 overs.
Nitish contributed with the ball as well. He dismissed Mahmudullah (41) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (8) and conceded just 23 runs from his four overs.
Speaking about his performance after the match, Tamim lauded the young player but also cautioned his fans.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy played good strokes, and his sixes changed the momentum of the game. He took two wickets as well. However, it is still early for him, and it is not right to say anything fancy about him after two matches.
“Let him play against a better opposition and a quality bowling side. Only then should we judge him as a player,” Tamim Iqbal said on Sports 18.
India restricted Bangladesh to 135/9 and won the match by 86 runs to go 2-0 up in the three-match T20I series.
