Former India T20I captain Hardik Pandya is a livewire on the field. He took a sensational catch in the second T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi. Rishad Hossain went for a big hit on Varun Chakravarthy‘s delivery in the 14th over of Bangladesh’s innings, but he couldn’t time it.
Hardik, who was stationed in the deep mid-wicket region, covered 27 meters and grabbed the ball despite tumbling. It was hailed as the catch of the series by the fans, and Team India’s fielding coach, T Dilip, gave Hardik a warm hug near the boundary role.
Overall, Pandya took three catches in the contest, and India registered an 86-run win. Former player Parthiv Patel was pleased with Hardik’s effort and called him an inspiration for the young players.
“Hardik Pandya has been playing for India for a long time, and despite being a senior member of the side, he doesn’t mind throwing his body on the field.
“It was a sensational catch from him, and the young players in the team will get inspired by the senior member, and this would also force them to go the difficult catches,” Parthiv Patel said on Sports 18.
Earlier, the 30-year-old gave the finishing touches to the India National Cricket Team’s total, scoring 32 runs off just 19 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. The Men in Blue posted 221/9 runs and managed to keep Bangladesh at 135/9.
Hardik has been a top contributor to the national team and was at his best in the ICC T20 World Cup winning campaign in the United States of America and the West Indies. His all-round contributions led India to the title. Pandya then played in the three-T20I series against Sri Lanka, in which India won 3-0.
