Basit Ali said that Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins deserves credit for the success of Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy in international cricket. He mentioned that Cummins, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, backed the two Indian players and played a key role in their development.

Cummins replaced Aiden Markram as SRH captain in the 17th season of the tournament, and the side made it to the final. Abhishek scored more than 400 runs at a strike rate of above 200, and Nitish contributed in the batting and bowling departments.a

“A special mention to Aussie skipper Pat Cummins. It would be unfair if he is not given credit for the success of Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy. He supported them in the IPL, and we must not forget that,” Basit Ali said.

Abhishek scored a hundred in the second T20I of his career against Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Nitish amassed 74 runs off 34 balls and took two wickets in the second T20I against Bangladesh.
