Ravichandran Ashwin said that it would not be the right thing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru if they target Rohit Sharma at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
According to him, RCB would have to keep INR 20 crore aside for the veteran India batter.
Rohit Sharma has been playing for Mumbai Indians since 2011 and has led the franchise to five IPL titles. However, he was sacked as captain and replaced by all-rounder Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2024.
Mumbai finished last in the tournament with just four wins from 14 matches.
There have been speculations that RCB might go for Rohit’s name if he decides to come to the auction. Ashwin feels that the Bengaluru-based franchise’s thought of going for Rohit’s name doesn’t seem to be a real one. He was responding to a fan who wanted Sharma to join RCB.
“You will have to keep 20 crore for Rohit Sharma. 20 crore will disappear for him,” he said.
Rohit has scored 5731 runs at 29.69 for Mumbai Indians. His runs have come at a strike rate of 131.05, including two centuries and 36 fifties.
