India will play a three-Test series against New Zealand. Bengaluru will host the opening contest from October 16. Rohit Sharma wants to create a pool of fast bowlers in order to dominate Test matches in overseas conditions. His target is to win the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 in Australia.

“Mayank Yadav has shown his talent in limited chances but we will have to be careful with him. He has suffered injuries in the past,” Rohit Sharma said.

“We are monitoring him on a daily basis and will gradually build-up his workload with red-ball. We want him to get ready before playing Test cricket for India,” he added.

Mayak, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana are the traveling reserves for the New Zealand series.

“They are talented but red-ball experience is missing. We want to keep them close to the team for the grooming purpose.

“We are thinking of taking them to Australia. They will be train accordingly and let’s see what they can offer to the Indian team. There is a need to create a pool of 8-9 fast bowlers instead of 3-4. We have got depth in our batting unit and it should be same in the bowling department,” he concluded.
