New Zealand batter Chad Bowes scored the fastest double hundred in List A cricket. He reached the record in 103 balls while playing for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy match against Otago on Wednesday, October 23.

Chad Bowes went past Australia’s Travis Head and India’s Narayan Jagadeesan, who completed their double ton off 114 balls.

Head played for South Australia in their contest against Queensland, reaching the milestone in the 2021-22 Marsh Cup.

Tamil Nadu’s Jagadeesan equaled the record against Arunachal Pradesh in India’s premier ODI tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, in 2022.

Bowes scored 205 runs off 110 balls, including 27 fours and seven sixes, in his 100th List A match at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. His team, Canterbury, scored 343/9, and the top performer was dismissed by Matthew Bacon in the 39th over.

“It will take some time to sink in. It was a good day to do something special. I didn’t plan for it and managed to hit the ball from the middle of my bat. It was good to hit fours and sixes,” Bowes said after his innings.

Canterbury won the match by 240 runs after the rivals were bowled out for 103 in 24.5 overs.

Bowes has represented New Zealand in six ODIs and 11 T20Is, hitting two fifties.
