IPL 2025 Mega Auction Date: The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League is expected to be played in its regular window of March – May 2025. A total of 74 matches will be played between 10 participating teams.

Ahead of the IPL 2025, the BCCI is planning to host a mega auction for the tournament.

With the cricket board exploring the opportunities to host the IPL 2025 mega auction, Riyadh is the front-runner for organizing the event. The IPL 2025 mega auctions are expected to be held on November 24 and 25.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction: According to the new IPL 2025 retention rules released by BCCI, each team can retain six players from their existing squad, either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option.(IPL 2025 Auction RTM Rules, Number of RTM Cards)

BCCI has also brought in uncapped rules where Indians Players who retired from international cricket five years ago and are not involved in the central contract can be retained as the ‘uncapped player’.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has added INR 20 crores to the Purse value of franchises to which teams can have a total purse value of INR 120 crore for the mega auction.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Date

With the deadline for submitting the retention players list ending by October 31, some reports suggest that BCCI is planning to hold the IPL 2025 mega auctions on November 24 and 25.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Venue

Despite no official confirmation from BCCI, it is evident that the Board is currently exploring the options for the venues and is expected to announce the schedule in a few days.

BCCI has explored a few other options like Dubai, Singapore and London. BCCI has even considered Vienna, but Saudi Arabia is believed to have been considered and also identified a place that can be the venue for the two-day mega auction. Out of those, Riyadh will be the frontrunner for holding the event.
