Gary Kirsten has stepped down as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach after differences with the PCB. Jason Gillespie, who is the Test head coach, was given the responsibility of the white-ball teams on an interim basis for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Pakistan Cricket Board has already started searching for a new head coach for the shorter formats. According to Pakistani media, the officials want a former Pakistan player who can take up the responsibility.

The reports claimed that former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is one of the candidates. He is ready to coach the team but has demanded absolute control of the team.

The national selector, Aaqib Javed, was earlier offered a bowling coach post, but he wanted a more prominent leadership position. With the post available now, he might be interested.

Aaqib Javed has worked with the Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars and the national team of Sri Lanka.

Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB chairman, will make the final decision on the new head coach of the white-ball teams after consulting with the stakeholders.
