According to several reports, KKR are keen on keeping Iyer, but the right-handed batter has received a substantial offer from a rival team, leaving him uncertain about staying in Kolkata. This development comes despite Iyer's pivotal role in KKR's successful campaign in IPL 2024, where he guided the team to their third championship. Iyer's leadership has been lauded by KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who praised the captain's ability to bring the best out of his players and steer the team through a challenging season. Iyer's impressive run as captain helped secure KKR's title win in the 17th season, and his departure would undoubtedly leave a significant void in the team's leadership.

 The situation is further complicated by the recent departure of former mentor Gautam Gambhir, who has taken up the role of India's head coach. In response, KKR has brought in Dwayne Bravo to bolster their support staff, hoping to ensure a seamless transition in the absence of Gambhir.

As KKR prepares for the mega auction, the team is set to retain key players to maintain a strong core. Sunil Narine, who has been with the franchise since 2012, remains a crucial part of KKR's plans. Narine's all-round performances in the previous season, including 488 runs and 17 wickets, make him an essential asset.

 Rinku Singh is another player likely to be retained. Despite a modest showing in IPL 2024, Singh's journey from debuting in 2018 to earning a spot in the national team has cemented his value to KKR. Young pacer Harshit Rana, who played a pivotal role in KKR's 2024 title-winning campaign, is also expected to be retained. Rana's 19 wickets in 13 matches showcased his potential, and KKR is likely to secure him under the uncapped category for the upcoming season.
