Former Pakistan player Basit Ali is confident that Mohammad Rizwan will be a successful captain in white-ball cricket. The wicket-keeper recently replaced Babar Azam and will lead the team on the limited-overs tour of Australia. “Mohammad Rizwan will throw an atom bomb as a captain,” Basit Ali said.

He feels the dressing room will be united once again under Rizwan’s leadership. “Rizwan will take everyone together. He has the qualities of a leader, and you will see such developments in the near future,” he added.

Rizwan’s first test will be a three-match ODI series against Australia, starting at the MCG on November 4.

“Gary Kirsten was unhappy after being removed from the selection committee” – Basit Ali

Gary Kirsten has resigned as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach. He made the decision just a few months after joining the team due to his differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Basit Ali said that Gary Kirsten was angry after he was removed from the selection committee.

“He was angry after being removed from the selection committee. Test head coach Jason Gillespie had a problem with his removal as well but he choose to continue as the head coach in Test cricket. The selectors should take inputts of coaches and captains before selecting a team,” Basit Ali said.  Jason Gillespie is the interim coach of Pakistan in shorter formats.
