Latest News :- David Warner has said that he is ready to bid farewell to retirement and play as an opening batsman for the Australian team in the Border Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India. 37-year-old David Warner retired from international cricket in June last year. He played a test match against Pakistan last January. That was his last test match.
After his retirement as an opener, there was speculation as to who would be Australia's Test opener. Experienced Steve Smith came forward to fill the void left by him. However, his performance as an opener has not been impressive. In such a situation, a question has arisen regarding the opener of the Australian team in the Test series against India at home.
“I will always be ready. I retired for the right reasons. I have finished my sports career on time. Also, if the team needs me, I am ready to play. To prepare for that and for my fitness, I am planning to play in the Sheffield Shield cricket series. Australian Warner said that I am ready to play as an opening batsman for the team again.
Warner has played 112 test matches for the Australian team from 2011 to January 2024. He has scored 8786 runs through this. He has scored 26 centuries. He played 21 test matches against the Indian team and scored 1218 runs. It consists of 4 cents and 3 half cents. All-rounder Cameron Green is out of cricket for the next six months due to injury. There are headaches for Australian openers in Test cricket too. The team is under pressure to settle all this before the Test series against India.
