The next few years are going to be even more exciting for cricket fans because ICC is preparing to start a new tournament. Along with this, after a long wait of almost 50 years, a special test match is going to be played. All these are part of the schedule for the next 4 years of women's cricket, which has been revealed. On Monday 4 November, the Women's Future Tour Program from 2025 to 2029 was announced, in which along with increasing the number of Test matches in women's cricket, some other special series have also been announced.
Many important matches of the Indian women's cricket team were also revealed in this FTP, during which Team India will play test matches against South Africa, Australia and England. The Indian team will play a total of 4 test matches in this FTP, out of which 2 matches will be played on the tour of South Africa and Australia in 2026. The Indian team will play 2 test matches at home against Australia and England. The most special entry in this FTP is that of the West Indies women's cricket team, which is returning to red ball cricket after a long gap of 20 years.
Yes, the West Indies women's team, which last played a Test match (against Pakistan) in 2003-04, will play a Test match again. It will also start with a historic Test, which will be played after 50 years. This test match will be played between West Indies and Australia in West Indies only. Before this, two test matches were played between the two teams in 1976. Those were the first 2 matches in the history of 12 Tests of the Windies women's team. Overall, the West Indies team will play 3 test matches between 2026 and 2028.
Apart from all this, ICC is now going to start another new tournament for women. This is the Champions Trophy but like men's cricket, it will not be played in ODI but in T20 format. The first edition of this tournament will be played in 2027 and the tournament will be organized in Sri Lanka. Like the Men's Champions Trophy, only fewer teams will participate in this. In total, 16 matches will be played between 6 teams. ICC has an old plan behind starting this tournament, under which the aim is to organize one tournament every year.
Apart from these, ICC has also fixed the window for 3 big T20 leagues from 2026 to 2029, the biggest impact of which will be on BCCI's league WPL. This league, which is being held in March till now, will be played during the January-February window from 2026. Due to this, the home season of the Australian women's team will start in February-March instead of January-February. Whereas the window has been fixed for WBBL in November and for The Hundred in August.
