A defeat has created a huge upheaval in Indian cricket. Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir have been on target ever since the Test series against New Zealand was whitewashed 0-3. Amid such circumstances, the team has to go on a tour of Australia, but even before that series, reports of differences between the team management have started coming out, which is not a good sign for Indian cricket. According to a report, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar was unhappy with a decision of the team management during the Test series and he also complained about it to BCCI. This report has come after the BCCI meeting in which the board officials discussed the reasons for the defeat with the coach, captain and chief selector.

Indian fans and BCCI officials were very unhappy after losing a Test series at home for the first time in 12 years and suffering a clean sweep in a 3-match Test series for the first time in 92 years. Only after this it was decided that before the Australia tour, the performance would be reviewed with the team management and the roadmap for the Australia series would also be discussed. This meeting was held on Thursday 7th November at the board's office in Mumbai, in which apart from some decisions, the methods of coach Gautam Gambhir were also discussed.

Agarkar unhappy with this decision, complains

A report in Times of India has claimed that the complaint of selection committee head Ajit Agarkar was also discussed in this meeting. This complaint of Ajit Agarkar was regarding giving rest to star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah did not play in the last Test held in Mumbai. The report quoted BCCI sources as saying that Ajit Agarkar was unhappy with the captain and coach's decision to rest Bumrah just before the Mumbai Test match. The reason for his unhappiness was that the team management did not inform him or anyone in the selection committee about this decision and took the decision unilaterally. Agarkar had complained about this to BCCI, after which emphasis was laid on everyone working together and being unanimous.

Bumrah's performance was not good

This series was not good for Bumrah and he could take only 3 wickets in 2 test matches. After losing the series in the second Test itself, it was believed that Bumrah would be given rest so that he could remain fresh for the Australia tour. With the start of the Mumbai Test, BCCI had said in a social media post that Bumrah could not fully recover from the viral infection and hence he was released from the squad. Now after the latest report, questions also arise whether Bumrah was really ill or it was just an excuse to release him.
