13 year old player from Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in the headlines since the mega auction of IPL 2025. This left-handed batsman was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the auction at a price of Rs 1 crore 10 lakh. Vaibhav is the youngest player to be selected for IPL. He is currently playing Men's Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 in UAE. In the very first match of this match, he made a special record in his name. However, as a batsman he could not do anything special in this match.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi got a chance to debut in ODI against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. This was his first ODI match in Under-19 cricket, before that he had played Test for India. Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history as soon as he stepped into the field for this match against Pakistan. Actually, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now become the youngest player to play Under-19 ODI for India. He played this match at the age of 13 years and 248 days. Earlier this record was in the name of Piyush Chawla. Piyush Chawla played an ODI match for the Indian Under-19 team at the age of 14 years and 311 days.
However, this debut match was nothing special for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav played as an opener in this match, but he could score only 1 run in 9 balls and lost his wicket. Vaibhav tried to touch the ball as soon as it went outside, due to which he was caught by the wicketkeeper. That means Vaibhav Suryavanshi could not live up to the expectations of his fans and IPL team in the debut match.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi had played an amazing innings against Australia's Under 19 team only last month. He scored 104 runs facing 64 balls against Australia. During this period he had completed his century in just 58 balls. In this explosive innings, he hit 14 fours and 4 sixes. With this, he also became the Indian batsman who scored the fastest century in the Under-19 Test. At the same time, in the same year, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had also scored a triple century in the Randhir Verma Under-19 ODI competition organized by Bihar Cricket Association. This was also the first triple century in the history of the Under-19 tournament.
