England batsman Joe Root has been breaking some world record in almost every match for the last few months. In particular, he has broken many records of India's legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar. In the first match against New Zealand in Christchurch, he also broke another record of Sachin. While chasing 104 runs against New Zealand on Sunday 1st December, Root played a brilliant inning of 23 runs in 15 balls and achieved a new achievement in Test cricket.
The New Zealand team had scored a total of 254 runs in the third innings. Due to already having a lead of 151 runs, the England team got the target of only 104 runs in the fourth innings, which it chased in just 12.4 overs. During this time, Root also got a chance to bat, in which Root played an inning of 23 runs. With this short innings, he left behind great batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar, Alastair Cook and Graham Smith. Now he has become the world number 1 batsman scoring most runs in the fourth innings. Root has scored a total of 1630 runs in the fourth innings of the test match, while Sachin had scored 1625 runs, Cook had scored 1611 runs and Graham Smith had scored 1611 runs in his test career.
Joe Root is desperately chasing Sachin's records. Root, about 34 years old, has played 150 test matches so far and has scored 12777 runs at an average of 50.90. During this period, he has scored 6 double centuries, 35 centuries and 64 half-centuries. He has the highest number of centuries in his name among active cricketers. Not only this, he is also the batsman who has scored the most test runs for England. He is at number 5 in terms of scoring most runs in Tests. Due to the speed with which he is scoring runs at this age, Sachin's record of highest score of 15921 runs in Test cricket is in danger. To break this world record, Root still has to score 3144 runs. Considering Root's age and his form in Test cricket, this seems possible.
