Pakistan and India are at loggerheads regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While the BCCI has categorically refused to send the team to neighboring countries, the Pakistan Cricket Board is not in favor of a hybrid model. The ICC has warned Pakistan of serious consequences if it doesn’t accept a hybrid model.
According to reports, PCB is likely to fall in line, but they would demand the same formula for the ICC tournaments scheduled to be played in India until 2031.
Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has reacted to the recent developments. He is not in favor of boycotting matches against India.
“The statements are good for face-saving. You are getting money for hosting matches, and there are chances of revenue generation. That’s fine, and we all get it. Pakistan’s stance is also right.
“Once you are able to host the Champions Trophy and they (India) are not coming. They will have to share the revenue at a higher price. When it comes to playing in India in times to come, we should go and beat them. We should extend the hand of friendship.
“Mohsin (Naqvi) is a great guy and we have seen his intentions. The stadiums ate getting ready. I was not sure now we would do it. It seems the work would be completed on time. I believe hybrid model was signed way before. These common statements happen,” Shoaib Akhtar said.
