Team India Test captain Rohit Sharma was in a good mood during the warm-up game against the Prime Minister’s XI. He playfully punched wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Khan during Day 2 of the contest at the Manuka Oval In Canberra.

India won the toss and elected to field first in the 50-over-per-side game after the first day was called off due to rain.

However, the match was again interrupted by rain, reducing it to a 46-over affair. The incident happened in the 23rd over of the PM’s XI innings. Harshit Rana bowled a short delivery, and the batter, Oliver Davies, tried to pull it but was undone by pace.

The ball went to wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Khan, who failed to collect it cleanly. When he went to recollect it, Rohit jokingly punched him on the back.

After missing the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024-25, Rohit has joined the team and will be leading the side in the second Test, starting on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval.

He didn’t open the innings for India and came out to bat at the No.4 slot. He managed just 3 runs, but India successfully chased down a target of 241 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Shubman Gill scored a fifty while other batters also contributed. Earlier, the Prime Minster’s XI were bowled out for 240, with Sam Konstas scoring 107 runs off 97 balls.
