After winning the Perth Test, there is a lot of excitement among the Indian team and fans for the pink ball match to be held in Adelaide. Everyone is eagerly waiting for this match. The Australian team is considered expert in playing with the pink ball. Many players of Team India are going to face this ball for the first time. Therefore, Australia was considered to have the upper hand in front of this ball. However, now apart from the ball, another factor has entered into this match, which can decide the outcome of the match. What is that factor and how can it change the situation, let us know.
Adelaide Test is very important from the point of view of capturing the World Test Championship and Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But before the match, a big problem has arisen in front of India and Australia. In fact, Damien Hough, the head curator of the Adelaide Oval ground, has expressed concern about the weather in the second Test. He has told that a warning of storm and lightning has been issued on Friday 6th December i.e. the first day of the match.
According to the Australian Meteorological Department, 50 percent rain is expected on the first day of the Adelaide Test. Also, there will be dense cloudy sky throughout the day and there is a possibility of rain up to 7 mm. Therefore the first day may also be cancelled. On the second day also, the sky may remain light cloudy with up to 40 percent rain. Talking about the remaining 3 days, there are estimates of 5 percent rain on the third day, 30 percent on the fourth day and 40 percent on the last day.
According to the Australian Meteorological Department, it will be cloudy all five days. Apart from this, the average wind speed in Adelaide during the month of December is 15 kilometers per hour. But during this match the average wind speed is expected to be 20 to 25 kilometers per hour. This is the reason by which the outcome of the match can be decided.
Till now the outcome of the match depended only on the swing and seam provided by the pink ball. But after the forecast given by the Australian Meteorological Department regarding Adelaide, the role of wind and clouds has also become important. There is a possibility of 6 mm of grass being left on the field of Adelaide Oval. Apart from this, pink ball is famous for more swing and seam and now high speed wind and clouds will make the fast bowlers even more lethal. Let us tell you that due to wind and clouds the ball gets more movement.
Especially at night, it may be difficult for the batsmen of both the teams to survive in front of the pink ball. If it rains on the first day, the pitch will have to be covered with a cover. In such a situation, due to moisture, the team batting first may be in danger. An example of this was also seen in the Bengaluru Test between India and New Zealand. When the Indian team was all out for just 46 runs.
