The second test match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will be played at Adelaide Oval ground from 6th December. In this match, the command of Team India will be in the hands of Rohit Sharma. Rohit was not a part of the first match of this series, where Team India won the Perth Test under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah. In such a situation, after Rohit's return, some changes are certain to take place in the team. Meanwhile, Rohit held a press conference a day before the Adelaide Test. During this, he gave a big statement regarding Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
In the Perth Test, the management of the Indian team had taken a big decision and Ravindra Jadeja-Ravichandran Ashwin were shown the way out of the playing 11. At the same time, Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy were given a chance to debut. This decision of the management proved to be right and the team also won the match. In such a situation, Rohit Sharma supported this decision of the management and said that it was the right decision but at the same time he said that these two experienced players can play a big role in the remaining matches of the series.
Rohit said in the press conference before the second Test, 'Unfortunately I was not there to give him the news that he is not playing the first match. It is always difficult to keep out experienced players like Jadeja and Ashwin, it is never easy. But this decision was taken on the basis of whatever was best for the team at that time and whatever the management felt was right at that time. He further said, 'This is what we will try to do throughout the series, whatever we feel is right at that particular time, we will do that. But I think he will play an important role in the remaining matches of the series.
Rohit Sharma also praised Washington Sundar during this period. Washington got a chance to play in the first match of the series and he was successful in taking advantage of this opportunity. Rohit said, 'He is a very good all-rounder. We have seen what he can do with the ball and bat. He has solid technique to play anywhere in the world and when players like that are in the team, you get confidence. I just hope that he stays away from injuries and does not get injured because a player like him is always important for our team.
