There is tension going on for some time between India and Pakistan Cricket Board regarding Champions Trophy 2025. There has been conflict regarding the tournament ever since Team India refused to go to Pakistan. ICC is continuously holding meetings regarding Champions Trophy 2025, so that the final decision can be taken. Today i.e. on 5th December also ICC meeting was held with 15 member boards, but this time too no decision could be taken on the Champions Trophy. Now the new date of the meeting has come out.
ICC's new chairman Jay Shah has taken charge from today. In such a situation, it was believed that Jai Shah could resolve this issue on the very first day, but this has not happened. The ICC meeting in which the Champions Trophy was to be decided has been postponed from December 5 to December 7. This means that now the final decision on this tournament can be taken on 7th December. According to reports, the ICC has again asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to accept the hybrid model and is ready to come back to the ICC with its final stand.
Let us tell you, Pakistan Cricket Board was continuously adamant on the demand of organizing the tournament completely in its own home, rejecting the demand of hybrid model of BCCI and ICC. But he is now ready for the hybrid model with some conditions. One of the conditions was that all ICC events in India should be organized in the hybrid model. But it is considered difficult for this to happen, due to which there is a delay in giving the final decision on Champions Trophy 2025.
Jay Shah visited the ICC Headquarters in Dubai on 5 December, during which he met the staff and the Board of Directors. Jay Shah said, 'This visit provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with my colleagues on the ICC Board, where we discussed the initial roadmap and strategies to shape the future of this incredible game. I was also very happy to meet the dedicated ICC team working hard behind the scenes to take cricket forward.
