It was fortunate that luck favored KL Rahul. Otherwise, Team India would have suffered a huge loss. The entire team would have had to suffer the punishment for one mistake of KL Rahul. During India's first innings in Adelaide, such a time came when the 8th over was going on. There was tremendous drama on the ball in this over of Scott Boland. This was when KL Rahul's account was not opened. Now let us know what happened. On the first ball of that over, KL Rahul made his way to the pavilion without getting out. The question is why?
When Scott Boland bowled the ball, it beat KL Rahul and went into the hands of Alex Carey standing behind the wicket. The entire Australian team including Boland made a strong appeal, after which KL Rahul was seen moving towards the pavilion. Seeing Rahul coming to the pavilion, Virat Kohli was also seen walking from there to enter the field. But, by the grace of fate, KL Rahul avoided making this big mistake. That's because the umpire declared the ball a no ball.
Scott Boland's entire leg was outside the crease on that ball, due to which the umpire had to give no ball. Not only this, when the third umpire saw, the ball was not even seen hitting his bat in the snickometer. That is, even if Boland's ball was not a no ball, Rahul was not out. That means if Rahul wanted, he could have taken DRS. But instead of doing so, his steps were moving towards the pavilion, which could have proved suicidal.
Luck showed favor to Rahul again only after 4 balls, when Khawaja, standing in the slips on Boland's ball, dropped his catch. When Rahul got his first lease of life, he had 0 runs on 19 balls. And by the time he got life for the second time, he had already scored 2 runs.
Taking advantage of these two gifts of life, Rahul not only settled on the Adelaide pitch but also helped Team India recover from Jaiswal's blow by making a 69-run partnership with Gill. KL Rahul scored 37 runs.
