The pink ball test between India and Australia, which cricket fans were eagerly waiting for, has started. This is the second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the two teams at the Adelaide Oval. India won the toss and batted first and got a big blow on the very first ball. Captain Rohit Sharma's decision might once again be a burden on Team India. The Adelaide Test match started from 6 December at 9:30 am Indian time. This is a day night test which is being played with the pink ball. India won the toss in the match and decided to bat first. But Mitchell Starc sent Yashasvi Jaiswal to the pavilion on the very first ball of the match.
Fans and cricket experts are surprised by captain Rohit Sharma's decision to bat first after winning the toss. Because there was 6 mm grass on the pitch and it was also cloudy. In this situation the pink ball can prove to be even more lethal. Keeping this in mind, it could have been the right decision to bowl first here and then gradually the pitch would have proved helpful for the batsmen.
However, Rohit's decision left many questions. Might this decision of Rohit become an alarm bell for Team India? Let us tell you that Rohit had taken a similar decision in the Bangalore Test against New Zealand, when Team India had suffered a shameful defeat.
The matter is not very old. Recently New Zealand visited India. The first match of the three-match Test series between the two teams started from October 16 in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru pitch proved helpful for the New Zealand bowlers and the Indian team was bundled out for just 44 runs. Even then, Rohit Sharma had won the toss and decided to bat first and the result was that India could not even score 50 runs in the first innings.
It is noteworthy that during the Bengaluru Test also it rained and there were dense clouds. The pitch was covered with cover for a few days, due to which there was moisture. That means New Zealand got full support from the weather and Team India was pushed on the back foot by the Kiwi team. It is noteworthy that in the Pink Ball Test against Australia in December 2020 at Adelaide Oval itself, Team India was all out for just 36 runs in its second innings. Australia won this match by 8 wickets.
