The first session of the first day in the Adelaide Test was a mixed bag for India and Australia. But, in the first session, one thing became very harmful from the host team's point of view. Australia suffered a straight loss of 35 runs. You might be wondering how the Australians suffered this loss? Australia has actually had to suffer the consequences of Usman Khawaja's mistake. Neither Khawaja would have made a mistake nor would Australia have suffered a loss in return.
Now the question is when did Usman Khawaja make a mistake in the Adelaide Test? The Australian player made a mistake in the 8th over of India's first innings. It happened on the 5th ball of this over. Then when KL Rahul was playing on a personal score of 2 runs. What happened was that on the 5th ball of Scott Boland's over, Usman Khawaja was caught in the slip by KL Rahul who was batting on 2 runs. After that catch drop, Rahul added 35 more runs to his score, which is no less than a loss from Australia's point of view.
Due to Usman Khawaja, Australia had to suffer such a loss in the first Test played in Perth, where Australia suffered a loss of 98 runs. In the Perth Test, he dropped the catch of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings when he was playing on 51 runs. There was only 103 runs opening partnership between him and Rahul. But, after that Jaiswal and Rahul added 98 more runs to their partnership and made a total partnership of 201 runs.
