Former Australia player Matthew Hayden has given important suggestion to the pacers of Team India on how to use the conditions in Brisbane to their advantage in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. With the teams winning one Test each, the upcoming contest has become crucial, and Hayden explained how to get rid of the home batters.
Speaking to Star Sports, Hayden mentioned the importance of bowling the fourth and fifth stump lines and making full use of the bounce. The pitch at Gabba will offer extra bounce, and Hayden pointed out that the Indian fast bowlers should make full use of the conditions.
He also noted that both teams will enjoy playing with the red-ball assignment compared to the pink-ball, which gave the hosts a slight advantage in the second contest. “Both teams are more familiar to the red-ball. Australia had a dominating game with a pink ball in Adelaide,” Matthew Hayden said.
Legendary cricketer told Indian batters to spend some time in the middle in Brisbane. “Indian batters must batter and take time. India will have to bat for a day and have to be in that 350 zone. You can’t be dismissed under a day. That is unacceptable,” he added.
India defeated Australia in Brisbane in the previous series to register a 2-1 win. Hayden acknowledged that India have fond memories of Australia’s favorite hunting ground.
“It is a home game for Australia but India have good memories of this ground. They had a memorable outing in the previous series.”
