Former India player Vinod Kambli has opened up on his deteriorating health after his pictures from the Ramakant Achrekar memorial went viral. Kambli, who is 52, is much better but had suffered a health scare a month ago. He was down with a urine infection and collapsed. He fell down, and the veteran was helped by his wife Andrea, son Jesus Cristiano, and daughter Johanna.

Former players like Kapil Dev and several others are worried about Kambli. He felt happy when Sachin Tendulkar met him during the memorial’s inauguration.

“I am feeling better, and my wife is taking care of me. She took me to three hospitals and urged me to get fit. Ajay Jadeja met me. I collapsed and fell down because of a urine infection and was picked up by my son Jesus. My wife and daughter also helped. The doctors told me to get admitted,” he told Vickey Lalwani in an interview.

Kambli scored two consecutive double-hundreds in his third and fourth Tests, but his party habits destroyed his career. He last played for India when he was 28. Kambli accused his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar of not helping him, leading to problems between the two. However, they solved their differences after a while.

Kambli revealed his favourite knock..”The double hundred I scored against England at the Wankhede Stadium will always remain close to my heart. Achrekar sir was with me, and my teammates were really good,” Kambli added.
