Indian bowlers have conceded more than 400 runs in Australia’s first innings in the third Test at the Gabba. The hosts were 405/7 at stumps on Day 2 in Brisbane. Former England player Michael Vaughan feels that the visiting team could land in trouble, considering the form of the batters.

India have posted 150, 180, and 175 in three innings, with just one good score of 487/6 declared in the second essay of the series opener. On the other hand, Travis Head (89, 140, and 152) is close to scoring 400 runs, while Steve Smith hit a ton in the first innings of the ongoing game. Jasprit Bumrah (17 wickets) has been the most impressive bowler but he hasn’t got support from the other end.

Mohammed Siraj (10 wickets) is the second-highest wicket-taker of his side, but the consistency is missing. Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy are new to the Test set-up while Akash Deep is currently playing his first game of the series.

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was outstanding in the Perth Test, while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc returned to form in the day-night Test.

Vaughan has warned India. “Jasprit Bumrah has been phenomenal throughout the series and was once again unstoppable in the first innings in Brisbane. The problem for India is that Australia have three bowlers who can bowl, like Jasprit Bumrah.

“Hazlewood, Cummins and Starc are world-class bowlers and playing against them will not be easy for the Indian batters in this Test match,” Michael Vaughan said on Star Sports.
