Jasprit Bumrah was given just three overs by Rohit Sharma at the start on Day 3. He dismissed Mitchell Starc in his third over but was taken off the attack by captain, leaving former players surprised. The speedster has taken 6 out of 8 wickets fallen in Australia’s first innings in the third Test at the Gabba.
He has been the only Indian bowler to impress in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, with 18 wickets to his name.
“You generally gives another over to a bowler, who has taken a wicket in his previous over. However, Jasprit Bumrah was not given one. He dismissed Starc to take his first wicket of the day but didn’t get another over,” Sanjay Bangar said on Star Sports.
Jasprit was India’s top performer on the second day of the Brisbane Test. The remaining bowlers were hammered by Travis Head, who scored 152 runs. Steve Smith also accumulated a hundred, his 33rd in Test cricket.
The two centurions were dismissed by Bumrah, who also added Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, and Mitchell Marsh wickets to his bowling column.
The series is levelled 1-1, with India National Cricket Team winning the series opener by 295 runs. The hosts registered a 10-wicket victory in the pink-ball Test.
