Virat Kohli and failures are going hand in hand in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia. His latest innings once again showed that the batter has passed his prime. The right-handed batter missed more balls than hitting with the bat and finally played a reckless shot to go back to the dressing room, leaving India in big trouble.
Josh Hazlewood pitched the ball outside off stump and Virat went for a drive, giving a simple catch to Alex Carey. He scored three runs off 16 balls, with India reaching 22/3. Former Australia player Matthew Hayden took a dig at the star batter.
“AUS ka boss is gone. He couldn’t get going and the ball outside the off stump has once again done the trick,” he said on Star Sports.
This line was given by Indian broadcasting channel to hail Virat for his performance in Australia in the past. Kohli was not the only one, who played an ordinary stroke. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who did everything to lose his wicket on the first ball of India’s innings, lasted for two deliveries. He played a reckless stroke on Mitchell Starc’s ball and was caught by Mitchell Marsh.
Shubman suffered a similar fate, giving second wicket to Mitchell Starc. His catch was grabbed by Marsh in the gully.
