The third match of Border Gavaskar Trophy is being played between India and Australia at Gabba. Batting first, the Australian team put about 445 runs on the board. In response to this, India's top order has failed miserably. After Adelaide, clouds of defeat are looming over Team India in Gabba also. If Team India loses in Gabba, then its hopes of playing WTC Final 2025 will also get a big blow. Let us see if India loses in Gabba, then what will be the position of Team India in the points table of the World Test Championship 2023-25 and what will be the equations for its WTC final.

What will be the condition of Team India after losing in Gabba?

Only South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Australia remain in the race for the final of the World Test Championship 2025. At present South Africa is on top with 63.33 percent marks. Australia is at second place with 60.71 percent marks and Team India is at number three with 57.29 percent marks. If Team India loses the Gabba Test, it will remain at number three but its points will be reduced.

After this, if Team India wins both the remaining matches of the series, then its points will be 58.8% and Australia's points will be 57%. Then India will come at number 2 and Australia at number three. If the Indian team wants to enter the WTC Final 2025 directly without depending on any other team, then it will have to win the Gabba Test and after that it will have to win the remaining two matches of the series as well.

Other equations for India's WTC 2025 final

If Team India loses 1-3 or 1-4 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, then it will be out of the race for the WTC final and Australia will make it to the final. Whereas if BGT draws 2-2 then Sri Lanka will have to do wonders for Team India to reach the WTC. Sri Lanka will have to whitewash Australia in the two-match series at home. Apart from this, another equation is that if BGT wins Australia 3-2, then South Africa will have to lose both the test matches against Pakistan at home, then Team India will have a chance. At least one match between Australia and Sri Lanka must be a draw.
