Delhi: Former captain Darren Sammy, who won the T20 World Cup twice for West Indies, has been appointed as the head coach of the West Indies cricket team in all formats. Cricket West Indies (CWI) made this official announcement during its press conference in St. Vincent. Sammy will take charge of the Test team from April 1, 2025 and will also continue to work as the coach of limited overs teams.

40-year-old Darren Sammy will replace Andre Colli as the head coach of the Test team.

After taking over as the limited-overs coach in 2023, West Indies' white-ball cricket has seen many improvements during his coaching tenure.

Cricket West Indies wrote on its 'X' handle, “Darren Sammy will be the head coach of all senior men's teams of West Indies from April 1, 2025. This was announced by Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket West Indies, at the quarterly press conference held in St. Vincent.

Sammy has made a huge contribution to West Indies cricket during his playing days.

Under his leadership, West Indies won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016. The team management hopes that Sammy will again strengthen the struggling Caribbean team in Test cricket and take the team to new heights.
