New Zealand vs England 3rd Test Match Report: The New Zealand cricket team defeated England by a huge margin of 423 runs in the third and last Test match played at Seddon Park, Hamilton. However, England won the series 2-1. This is New Zealand's joint-biggest win in Test cricket in terms of runs. Earlier in 2018, New Zealand had won the match against Sri Lanka by 423 runs in the Eastchurch Test. Mitchell Santner was named player of the match for his all-round performance. Including both the innings, he took 7 wickets and added 125 runs in batting.
Chasing the impossible target of 658 runs, the England team was all out for 234 runs in the second innings. Jacob Bethel scored 76 runs in 96 balls and Joe Root scored 54 runs in 64 balls. Apart from this, in the lower order Gus Atkinson added 43 runs in 41 balls.
Six players of the team could not reach double figures.In the second innings for New Zealand, Mitchell Santner took 4 wickets, Tim Southee and Matt Henry took 2-2 and William O'Rourke took 1 wicket.
Earlier on the third day, New Zealand was all out for 453 runs in the second innings and due to the lead of 204 runs in the first innings, England had set a target of 658 runs.
Kane Williamson batted brilliantly and scored 156 runs in 204 balls with the help of 20 fours and 1 six. This was Kane Williamson's fifth consecutive Test century at this ground. With this he became the first player to score 5 consecutive Test centuries in one stadium. Apart from this, Will Young scored 60 runs in 85 balls and Daryl Mitchell scored 60 runs in 84 balls. New Zealand had scored 347 runs after being invited to bat first, in response to which England was all out for 143 runs.
