Joe Root has now reached number 1 in the ICC Test rankings. He defeated his own compatriot Harry Brook. 33-year-old Joe Root is one of the most successful batsmen in England's Test history. Apart from this, he is also a part of Fab 4. In which he is with Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson.

Root snatches the number 1 throne from Brook

Joe Root has overtaken his team's young player Harry Brook. 25 year old Harry was earlier the number 1 batsman in Test. Recently he had achieved this position. But now he has come at number two. His rating points is 876. The routes which have come on top with 895 rating points.

Great performance against New Zealand

The test series between New Zealand and England ended on 17 September. England won the first two matches and won the series. Whereas New Zealand saved its credibility by winning the last match. In this series, Joe Root had performed tremendously with his bat. Root scored 218 runs in three matches of this series. He scored one century and one half century. If we look at Root's overall Test career, he has so far scored 12,972 runs in 152 matches. The England legend has scored 65 half centuries and 36 centuries. His average in this format is more than 50.

Harry Brook becomes 'Player of the series'

Apart from Joe Root, Harry Brook also performed brilliantly in the Test series against New Zealand and was elected 'Player of the Series'. He played an innings of 171 runs in the first test of the series. After this, he again scored a century in the second match. He had scored 123 runs in the first innings. 55 runs were scored in the second innings. However, in the last match of the series, Brook was able to score only one run. Talking about his overall Test career, he has scored 2281 runs with the help of 8 centuries in 40 innings of 24 Tests.
