After Lucknow’s middle-order batters failed to make an impact on the scoreboard, Ayush Badoni took the responsibility in the shoulder and made a crucial knock and saved the team.

Notably, in 20 batting innings across IPL 2023 and 2024 including today, LSG has used six different batters at No.3 – Deepak Hooda, Devdutt Padikkal, Prerak Mankad, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya and Karan Sharma – with them registering 13 single-digit scores among them.

Speaking on the match, Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bat first where Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul opened the inning.

The duo made a decent start but failed to make it long enough to build an impressive opening partnership. Khaleel Ahmed made the first breakthrough by dismissing de Kock for 19 runs while LSG scored 28 runs.

In his next over, Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Devdutt Padikkal for just 3 runs and made his second wicket of the game. In the 8th over, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Stoinis and N Pooran in back-to-back deliveries and scattered Lucknow’s middle orders.

Following the duo’s dismissal, Lucknow Super Giants struggled to build a partnership but Ayush Badoni scored an unbeaten 55 runs from 35 deliveries and led LSG to score 167 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw and David Warner opened the inning and made a steady inning where the duo scored 24 runs for the 1st wicket. Yash Thakur made the first breakthrough by dismissing Warner for 8 runs. At the end of the powerplay, Delhi Capitals scored 62 runs for 1 wicket loss.
