Pakistan cricket team is looking in good shape at the moment and is continuously performing well before the Champions Trophy. Under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, the Pakistani team has now won the ODI series against South Africa after Australia and Zimbabwe. On one hand the team is doing wonders but the performance of its opening batsman Abdullah Shafiq is continuously deteriorating. Shafiq scored a hat-trick of 'ducks' in the ODI series against South Africa. That means he was out in all three matches of the series without opening his account. Along with this, Shafiq also got a shameful record registered in his name.

The third and last match of the ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan in Johannesburg could not start on time due to rain. Then when the match started, it started raining again after just 19 balls and the match had to be stopped. But within these 19 balls, Pakistan lost the wicket of Shafiq, who failed miserably for the third consecutive match. Shafiq, who came to bat on the second ball of the innings, was immediately sent back to the pavilion by South Africa's legendary fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. In this way Shafiq was out without opening his account on his very first ball.

Hat-trick of 'Duck', made a shameful record

This was not the first time in this series, when Shafiq could not even open the account. In the first match of the series, he could not open the account after playing 4 balls. Then in the second ODI, he returned after getting out for 0 in just two balls. His game ended in just 1 ball in the third ODI. In this way, he has become the first opener in the world to be out on 0 in all the matches of an ODI series. He is the second Pakistani opener after Salman Butt to be out on 0 in 3 consecutive ODIs. Not only this, he is only the second batsman to be out for a duck in all three matches of an ODI series. Before him, Team India's batsman Suryakumar Yadav was out on 0 in all three matches against Australia last year.

Out on 0 so many times in a short career

Shafiq has a very special relationship with 0. This is not the first time that he has been out on 0 in several consecutive matches. Before this, he had not been able to open his account in 4 consecutive T20 International matches. Not only this, this year he has been out on zero 7 times in only 21 international innings, which is the highest for any top order batsman this year. Shafiq made his debut for Pakistan in 2020 and in his 4-year career, he has played only 49 matches so far, but in these 49 matches, he has become the victim of 'duck' 14 times.
