Pakistan cricket team's star batsman Babar Azam has made some special records in his career. Often he equals the records of legendary Indian batsmen like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or sometimes even leaves them behind. He did something similar in the first test match against South Africa, where he achieved the feat which only batsmen like Virat and Rohit could achieve before him. This is an achievement, 4000 runs in all three formats. Babar Azam did this feat on the very first day of the Centurion Test, but even this happiness could not remove his sorrow which has been going on for 731 days.

The South Africa tour has proved to be better for the Pakistani team so far. After losing the T20 series, the Pakistani team made a strong comeback and made a clean sweep of the ODI series 3-0. The victory of the ODI series was also special because Babar Azam, who was struggling with poor form for a long time, had played two consecutive half-century innings. In such a situation, Pakistani fans were hoping that his amazing performance would continue in the Test series also, but their hopes were shattered on the very first day of the Test match in Centurion.

Virat and Rohit did wonders like that.

The first match of the 2-match series at SuperSport Park started on Boxing Day i.e. 26th December. Pakistani team came to bat first and as soon as captain Shan Masood was out, Babar came to bat at number three. Babar hit a four on the very first ball and with the help of this four he completed his 4000 runs in Test cricket. Babar achieved this milestone in the 101st innings of the 56th Test. In this way, he became only the third batsman after ODI and T20 to complete 4000 runs in Test also. Virat and Rohit had done this feat long before them.

Still the sadness is not over

Babar and his fans must have thought that after this four, more runs would come from his bat but it could not happen. Babar returned to the pavilion after facing the next 10 balls, while he could not add even a single extra run to his score. In this way, his bad phase in Test cricket continued even after 731 days. Babar has not crossed the 50 mark even once in 19 Test innings for the last 731 days i.e. exactly 2 years. His last score of more than 50 came exactly 2 years ago on 26 December 2022 against New Zealand in Karachi, where he scored a strong century.
