Ind vs Aus: Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and his motley bunch gone mute

The post mortem has begun, what caused the demise of the Indian team, where seven wickets fell in one session resulting in a humiliating defeat at the MCG on Monday.

Skipper Rohit Sharma seems inert to defeats, he was smiling and casual at the press conference.

He has not been asked tough questions, either. He was asked on Rishabh Pant, and some banal reply was given. Some others have offered expert views on the Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissal as well. The third umpire has been ripped apart, but everyone knows Jaiswal was out.

As the Aussies have taken a 2-1 lead in the BGT Series, the silence from the coaching staff is deafening.

What happened to those press released quoting pearls of wisdom from GG - Gautam Gambhir. When the BCCI brought him on board, he was seen as a Messiah. It was as if the right replacement had been found for genial coach Rahul Dravid. One ODI series loss in Sri Lanka, a Test series defeat to New Zealand, all this is not something which can be forgotten. Worse, the failure in the fourth Test, where a draw was on the cards.

Gambhir cannot stay mum. He is head coach/mentor, why is he keeping quiet. Is silence an admission of guilt? Gambhir needs to speak up, even if he has no clue what happened at the MCG.

When a batter does well, say, like Nitish Reddy smashing a ton in the first innings, people will talk. So much has happened, Gambhir has not offer an explanation. The same goes for batting coach/consultant Abhishek Nayar. Should he not throw light on how two geniuses are failing, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. What does Kohli do at nets while facing the red cherry outside the off-stump. Is he a rabbit to be nibbling at away going deliveries in Test after Test. It is testing the patience of every fan. Even the most ardent admirer of Kohli is at a loss for words.
Come on, Mr Batting Coach, please speak up. Now. We want to hear you.

Back to Jaiswal, he dropped three coaches on Sunday. Has T.Dilip, the fielding coach, much hyped and retained from the previous regime found out why this happened. Silence cannot be an answer. The entire coaching staff is on 'maun vrat', which is stay mum in Sanskrit. And, now, how about the bowling coach, Morne Morkel. He needs to say nothing on magician Jasprit Bumrah. What about Akash Deep, is he a failure or success? Can Morkel educate people what's wrong with the bowlers. Or will there be band-aid treatment for deep wounds, bring back Harshit Rana and drop Akash Deep in Sydney.

The entire coaching staff must hang their heads in shame. They are on fat wage contracts. If players can be dropped, and there is a clarion call King Kohli and Rohit retire, how about accountability from all these coaches. Own up, say something, or fans will interpret it as sheer incompetence. What happened in the Boxing Day Test cannot be forgotten, even if India bounce back in Sydney. Something is amiss, and it's serious with Gautam Gambhir and his motely mix.

In January, there will be a new BCCI secretary and treasurer.

There will, hopefully, be more accountability. After all, BCCI President Roger Binny is worse than a rubber stamp, now out of vogue. The team for the Champions Trophy has to be chosen. Why not stir the pot when the broth is boiling. Can these coaches deliver or there should be a split coaching concept? It has been hinted at before.
