The Indian team has lagged 1-2 in the series after losing the Melbourne Test. Now the final match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground. The last and decisive match will start from January 3. The pitch for this is almost ready. Before the match, the Chief Curator of Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) told what kind of work is going on on the pitch and what can be expected from this pitch during the match.
Sydney Cricket Ground has shared a video of curator Adam Lewis from its X handle. In this he is giving information regarding the preparation of the pitch.
He said, 'Now only two days are left, we are reaching the final stage of preparations. We took the cover off this morning, cut it down by about 7mm and had a good rolling on the pitch today. The work of suppressing the pitch has been done well. Which I am really happy with.A New Years Day update with SCG Curator, Adam Lewis

He further said, 'It is very hot in Sydney today, so we will maintain the humidity there by sprinkling light water. Then tomorrow we will do a little more heavy rolling so that some of the color comes out, so that we can be ready for the third day.
Sydney's pitch is considered to be the most helpful for batsmen in Australia.
In such a situation, it is already considered certain that the pitch will be good for batting. But it is also being speculated that Australia may play the same trick here which Team India had played against them in 2013. Actually, it is believed that the SCG pitch will be completely flat, in which there will be nothing for the bowlers. In such a situation, batsmen will be able to play long innings and there will be more chances of the match being a draw. Team India had tried a similar method in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played in India in 2023.
Then Team India was leading 2-1 and the last match of the series was in Ahmedabad. The pitch of this match was very flat and only runs were scored, while the match was drawn.Team India's performance in the Test at Sydney ground has been disappointing. 13 matches were played between India and Australia on this ground. 7 matches were drawn, 5 matches were won by Australia whereas India has won only one test on Sydney ground and that too 47 years ago in the year 1978. However, India's last defeat came in 2012 and after that the next three consecutive matches ended in draws.
The performance of the Indian team in the current Border Gavaskar Trophy has not been good. India made a great start by winning the first test by 295 runs. But in the second test played in Adelaide, India lost by 10 wickets. The third test played at Gabba was a draw. Whereas in Melbourne, Team India had to face defeat by 184 runs.
