Former Australia player Justin Langer dismissed the reports of a possible rift between the Indian players following the team’s defeat in the Boxing Day Test. It was published that Gautam Gambhir scolded the players and warned them of serious consequences if his instructions are not followed.

It was mentioned that Rishabh Pant had to face Gambhir’s anger and it was Virat Kohli who stopped the head coach from blaming the wicker-keeper batter.

The dressing room conversation was leaked to media, with a senior player ready to replace Rohit Sharma as India’s captain on an interim basis. Langer, who doesn’t believe in media stories, questioned the authenticity of the news. According to him, it is impossible to bring out the information from the dressing room as it is a sacred place and the conversations are private and personal.

“I don’t go by what media says as I am aware of how it works. Their job is to sensationalize news and present it in a different way. There is no rift between the Indian players. A divided team can’t celebrate the way Indian players did after taking Usman Khawaja’s wicket in the first innings.

“They went charging towards Sam Konstas who said something to Bumrah. The Indian players were pumped up and celebrated as a unit,” he said on Star Sports.
