Neeraj Chopra has made India famous across the world in the last few years. He had created history by winning gold medal in javelin competition first in Tokyo Olympics and then silver medal in Paris. Now he is once again going to do a historic work. Actually, Neeraj has always been in favor of organizing international level javelin tournament in India. Now his dream is going to be fulfilled. Actually, Athletics Federation of India has announced an International Javelin Competition. The world's top 10 javelin throwers will participate in it.
Adil Sumariwala, who was the President of AFI for 12 years, has informed about organizing the International Javelin Competition in India.
He told that the ten best javelin throwers in the world will be invited to this event, in which Neeraj Chopra will also participate. The biggest thing is that Neeraj will not only play in the tournament but will also completely supervise its organization. He has joined the team organizing this event.AFI will get it done in collaboration with JSW and foreign firms. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing enthusiasm about Javelin because of Neeraj.
The objective of this event is that more and more youth of the country can know about this game and can represent the country in this game at the international level. At present, to compete with the world's best javelin throwers, one has to go to foreign tournaments in the Diamond League.After 12 years, the tenure of AFI President Adil Sumariwala has ended. Now, in his place, Bahadur Singh Sagoo, who was the shot put event gold medalist in the 2002 Asian Games, has been elected as the new president.
After his arrival, AFI is now thinking of hosting many other international events apart from Javelin. However, it was Adil Sumariwala who started it. AFI has expressed its desire to host the World Relays in 2027, the World Junior Championships in 2028 and the 2029 World Championships. India will bid for all these events.
