Pakistan white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has urged the fans and cricket experts to keep underestimating his team if that is the secret formula of their success in big tournaments. Speaking to the reporters ahead of their first ICC Champions League Trophy 2025 match against New Zealand, Rizwan looked confident.

Rizwan mentioned that their focus is on giving their best and leaving the rest to God. Pakistan were the lowest-ranked team in the 2017 Champions Trophy but ended up winning the tournament.

The Men in Green defeated India in the final. Even in the 1992 ODI World Cup, Pakistan defied all the odds to lift the trophy.

“If that’s how we win, keep underestimating us. Hopefully, we win,” Rizwan said. Rizwan feels the team has to improve. “We need to improve our awareness and professionalism. Pakistan have achieved great heights in international cricket, and we have been producing top performers. I believe if we work hard and execute our plans perfectly, the Almighty will reward us,” he added.

Rizwan mentioned that hosting the Champions Trophy is the start of a bright future for Pakistan.

“There was no international cricket in Pakistan for 10 years but we managed to perform well. No one should doubt our talent and ability. I know we haven’t been consistent, but we are working hard to resolve this issue.”
