Sunil Narine has become the best all-rounder in the Indian Premier League 2024. He has scored a fifty and a hundred in the 17th season. The southpaw slammed his maiden IPL century against the table toppers Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens.
He was once again given a chance to open the batting for the two-time champions by mentor Gautam Gambhir and the returns have been ruled unbelievable.
Narine didn’t spare the season’s best bowler Yuzvendra Chahal and slammed him for big hits to complete his ton.
The southpaw accumulated 109 runs in 56 balls, laced with 13 fours and 6 sixes. Former India player Ambati Rayudu credited Gambhir for Narine’s three-figure mark.
“Sunil Narine’s hundred belongs to Gautam Gambhir. He is the man behind Sunil’s success in the ongoing season. Gautam gave him confidence after last year’s failure and look at him now. The West Indies player has become a genuine all-rounder for Kolkata.
“His face tells the story. Gambhir hugged him during the break and that says a lot about their bonding,” Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports.a
Kolkata scored 223/6 after Sanju Samson invited them to bat first after winning the toss.
