Delhi Capitals haven’t been a top-performing franchise since the inception of the Indian Premier League in 2008. The owners have appointed big names as coaches, but the results are unfavorable. Ricky Ponting, the legendary Australian player, is Delhi’s current head coach, but the outcome is the same.

The players’ performance has not improved, with star players either injured or out of form. Former India player Irfan Pathan blamed Ponting for the team’s failures as he hasn’t been able to take them to success despite making his presence felt in the auction and having the services of Sourav Ganguly.

“I am surprised that Ricky Ponting hasn’t been touched for the failures. If an indian was Delhi’s coach in place of Ponting, his coaching caree would have ended by now. Delhi were good when Shreyas Iyer was their captain but in the last few season, the results have gone down. This year Delhi are looking good but it is because of Rishabh Pant,” Irfan Pathan said.

Delhi are ninth in the points table, with four defeats and two wins in the 17th season. David Warner and Anrich Nortje are out of form, while Mitchell March has returned to Australia for treatment for his hamstring injury. Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav have done well in their roles, but other players have lacked consistency.
