Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was miffed with batters after the team was dismissed for 89 runs in 17.3 overs. Delhi Capitals complete the chase in 8.5 overs with 6 wickets in hand. “It was an average batting performance from us. We didn’t try to stay at the crease,” Shubman Gill said.

He refused to blame the pitch. “There was nothing wrong with the pitch. My dismissal had nothing to do with the track, which was the case with Wriddhiman Saha. Even Sai Sudharsan was run out. So these three dismissals had nothing to do with the pitch,’ he added.

Gill was asked about introducing the spinners early to defend 89, and the young skipper said it was impossible.

“I don’t think so. We would lose this match until a bowler took a double ha-trick for us. We didn’t put up a total that could have challenged Delhi Capitals. However, we will have to move on from the crushing defeat. Even if we win a game, it is important to move on,” he concluded.

Rishabh Pant was named the Player of the Match for taking two catches, two stumpings, and scoring an unbeaten 16 runs.

Mukesh Kumar was the highest wicket-taker for the Capitals, dismissing three batters.
