The Champions Trophy 2025 was the first global cricket tournament to be held in Pakistan, which was an important moment in the history of sports in the country. But this tournament became a big problem not only for PCB but also for its players. At first, the team of Pakistan got out of the tournament from the first round and after that the salary of Pakistan's domestic players has also reduced due to this tournament. Actually, this tournament has proved to be a major failure from financial and logistical point of view. According to a report, the Pakistan Cricket Board has suffered a loss of Rs 2383 crore during the tournament.

PCB's terrible loss

According to a report by The Telegraph, PCB spent 18 billion Pakistani rupees (about $ 58 million) to upgrade the three stadiums in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi. This was 50 percent more than his budget. In addition, he spent $ 40 million on the preparations for the event. However, he returned only 6 million dollars from hosting fees and ticket sales and sponsorship. This means that PCB suffered a loss of about $ 85 million, which is Rs 2383 crore in Pakistani currency.

In addition, Mohammad Rizwan -led team played only one match at home, which was against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

His next match, against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, was canceled due to rain without toss. Two of the remaining eight matches to be held in Pakistan were also canceled due to rain.

Players suffered heavy losses

The Telegraph report also said that after this loss of PCB, now the players there have to face bad results. In the National T20 Championship, the match fee was reduced by 90 percent and the payment of reserve players was reduced by 87.5 percent. These players, who once stayed in five -star hotels, are now forced to live in budget houses, while administrators are taking salary of millions.

Pakistani newspaper The Dawn said, 'PCB recently reduced the match fee from Rs 40,000 to Rs 10,000 without any official announcement, although PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi canceled the decision and directed the board's domestic cricket department to review the matter. Although the PCB has not yet officially disclosed the amount received from the players, but according to sources it has been set at Rs 30,000 per match, which is Rs 10,000 less than last year. It is clear that the condition of Pakistan Cricket Board has worsened since the Champions Trophy.
